Last week, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) confirmed that they will begin the sale of forms for the 2017 Unified Matriculation Tertiary Examinations. JAMB also announced some important information and dates to guide those who will be sitting for the exams.

Below are 10 important things prospective candidates must know about this year’s JAMB UTME examinations:


1. The forms will be on sale for only one month. It begins on March 20 and ends April 19, 2017.


2. JAMB application forms will be sold for 5,500. The registration package includes registration fees, reading text, syllabus and brochure.

3. The registration portal will be closed on Saturday, April 22, 2017.

4. For Direct Entry candidates, the application forms will be on sale from Sunday, April 23, 2017.

5. JAMB will be written between May 6 and May 20, 2017.

6. There will be no examination on May 12. This is to allow West African Examinations Council (WAEC) candidates sit for Further Mathematics.

7. Students awaiting results can write JAMB, but must have their O’Level result ready at the point of admission.

8. Those who register for the JAMB mock examination will sit for it on April 8, 2017.

9. The CBT centers will be allowed to charge a token of N700 for the mock exams.

10. Over 600 public and private centers had been approved for the conduct of this year’s UTME across Nigeria.

Following the recent update on the portal of 2017/2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made it compulsory for all candidates to create their personal profile on the Jamb website before they can participate for this year’s exam.
When you create your profile on JAMB portal, it will enable you to check your Jamb result and as well as print out your result, admission letter and many more.
To create a profile on the JAMB portal, you must do the following below:
  • Enter a functional email address and other details as the page opens up, then click on verify email.


  • Ensure you login into your email for confirmation. Take note that the confirmation email could be in your spam folder if not seen on your inbox.


  • Click on the link sent to you by JAMB in the confirmation email to continue your registration.


  • Enter your name, surname, email, date of birthday, password, etc.


  • After you must have filled the required information, click on “Sign Up” to complete the creation of your profile/account.

JAMB/UTME Cut-OFF MARK


The cut-off mark for JAMB varies from the course of study to other courses of study, and also University of choice. Below you will find all the essential JAMB notifications about cut off marks for gaining admission in 2017.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have released JAMB 2017/2018 cut off marks for all Nigerian universities.

According to the JAMB registrar, Professor Ishaq Olanrewaju Oloyede, the general cut-off mark is from 150-200, and it depends on the university.

He also added that some colleges could lessen JAMB cut-off marks to 150, while the others can increase them to 200 and higher.
