How to Apply For NYSC Relocation & Redeployment

Do you want to relocate or redeploy from your state of National Youth Service posting?

Seeking approval for relocation or redeployment at the NYSC orientation camp can be an unnerving task, especially for the prospective corp members who don’t have candid reasons why he/she would want to redeploy and not serve in the state they were posted to. Although, every National Youth Service corp member has exclusive right to request a change of state (NYSC Redeployment Scheme / Relocation), but one must have a genuine reason to be able to apply and get approval.

This blog post aims to show the reasons why the National Youth Service Corp board management will allow for redeployment and list two surefire ways which you can apply for relocation request and be approved easily.

See NYSC Board Acceptable Grounds for Redeployment

Below are the reasons why NYSC will consider your request to redeploy to another state of your choice:

1. Marital grounds: This typically applies to only female corps members who are married and want to move to the state where their husbands reside. A corps member who finds herself in this type of situation should apply in writing after the swearing-in Ceremony stating why she wants to be relocated. The application letter should be addressed to the Director-General through the State Coordinator. Since you are applying on a marital ground, you have to attach the following:

a. A valid marriage certificate

b. A document showing the change of name in any of the National Newspapers and Affidavit

c. A letter from your husband’s workplace which will serve as evidence that your husband is domiciled in the state that you want to relocate to.

2. Health/Medical grounds: This reason is for those who have extreme or reoccurring illnesses which require that they are monitored closely. You will need a unique medical report from your institution’s medical centre or from a recognised government hospital. Kindly note that claims on health grounds are subject to further confirmation to establish its authenticity.

3. Security grounds: Sure, there are certain states in Nigeria that many corp members would like to serve in, and there are some states widely known as affected areas, either by Boko Haram insurgents, Fulani herdsmen, or unfriendly indigenes , and some of these states are: Borno, Adamawa, Gombe, Yobe, and other Northern states. It is no news that parents and guardians do not even want to allow their children for orientation exercise at the camps in these states.

How to Apply For NYSC Relocation & Redeployment (Tested Ways)

1. Applying in the orientation camp: This surest way for you is to write the letter of redeployment and apply for it while on camp. During the 21 days orientation camp period, interested corp members will have the opportunity to apply for relocation at the second week of camp. Normally, a form will be given out to the interested youth corper to fill. As stated above, the national youth corper would have to state the reason he or she wants to relocate, providing genuine proof as evidence. You will also be asked to submit an application letter for redeployment together with the form.

2. Applying online after camp: Previously, it was always difficult and most times an impossible task to get relocation approval after the end of 21 days orientation camp. But in recent times, the NYSC board has now made it possible to easily apply online for relocating even after the camp has ended. You no more need to wait for 3 months to get your approval for relocation, as you can now get approved for relocation after 2 weeks of application.
